Frampton On Severn Sailing Club

Frampton Sailing Club

Most of the year Frampton Sailing Club has racing on a Wednesday and Sunday. Training for both children and adults takes place on Saturdays throughout the summer.  Every other term Frampton does a taster day where you go along and sail in a two man boat with a coach and see if you like it. The sailing club also does open events where people from around the country go to Frampton and race.

Recently Frampton held a Topper event for children over 10 and under 16. There were 56 Toppers in the event. There was another event but it was a enterprise event. There were only 10 boats in this event. Ian Wakeling and his crew Sean O'Neil came first out of all the races on that day.

Once there was a handicap race. A handicap isn't for disabled, its when any boat can race. All the boats start at different times depending on how fast the boat is. If the boat is really slow then it would start first, but if it's really fast then it would start last.

On the committee boat there's a horn and some flags.  The horn and flags will tell you when to start. You press the horn button every 2 minutes and every 1 minute. You have to put different flags up at different times.
